Metals, Health and Ageing
Is it possible that metals are one of the root causes of the
chronic disease epidemic we are experiencing today?
World wide health statistics show that we are loosing the 'war
on chronic diseases'. In 1972 Richard Nixon promised the
people that within 5 years he would have an 'answer to
cancer'. He was not the only one, nor the first or last
politician making such promises. Health statistics, which
everyone can read on the internet, show clearly that
especially the 'rich' countries are leading the world in
chronic diseases such as cancer, arterial and heart diseases
and so on.
The United States of America occupy first place in this
dubious race for disease supremacy. The USA represent
approximately 4% of the world population but spend 60% of ALL
the money spent in this world on health....and yet they are
the sickest people on our planet.
Beautiful countries like Australia and New Zealand, where the
sky is still blue and the water clear, come a close second.
Furthermore 10% of the 20 million Australians suffer from
diabetes.
China is now leading the world in lung cancers and it
seems the more they 'catch up with the West' the more chronic
diseases the people there develop.
But especially in China, I found, scientists are investigating
the role 'environmental metals' are playing in the process.
Generally we have to understand that the 'metal burden' in our
environment increased one thousand-fold since the beginning of
the industrial revolution. Once we understand how and why
metals can cause chronic diseases we also understand why
modern medical methods to curb the 'epidemic' may be doomed to
failure.
Over the past 20 years I had a close look at the role these
metals play in health and disease processes and developed a
new method to detect their presence in our environment and
ourselves.
The book is dealing with the theory of how and why
'environmental metals' have such devastating effect on our
health and shows a practical way of how to detect and
neutralise these agents of doom and disease.
